My main research interest revolves around diversification of cropping systems, in order to make agricultural production more multifunctional, and to reduce trade-offs between biodiversity conservation and productivity. I am particularly intgrigued by the complex interactions generated by intercropping and related cropping systems. My research further focuses on stability and resilience, which are becoming increasingly important in a changing climate. Organisms studied in my research include plants (crops and weeds) and insects. One research area I have been following for some years is the host finding behaviour of herbivorous insects, in particular aphids.
